Festival of Navruz in Samarkand
Holiday Navruz is one of the ancient festivals of Persian-Tajik and Turkic people. This holiday is celebrated on March 21 and it is the spring equinox, and it means that day is equal to night. Historical sources point out that the period of the development of Navruz - from the earliest times to the ages, which continued until the emergence of "zoroastrianism". Navruz has become a favorite holiday for honest people. In those days, even warfare had stopped, and sorrows were forgiven. The kings had rewarded the most worthy men, and some of the prisoners' sins were forgiven. The festival of Navruz filled the hearts of the people of Samarkand with the joy as the spring sky. The festival that began in the villages and makhallas of the region was continued in more than a dozen oriental and amusement parks and squares in Samarkand.Staff members of the Samarkand State Architectural and Civil-Engineering Institute actively participated in the festival. The administration of the Institute, professors and teachers decorated tables with various national dishes prepared for the festival. Especially the national sporting events have brought the holiday to a higher level.Mutual friendship, solidarity, brotherhood songs gave a pleasure to the people.
