History of the Chair
The Chair of Social Sciences began its activity in 1966 together with the Samarkand State Institute of Architecture and Construction. The Chair of "Social Sciences" has repeatedly carried out structural changes.
From November 1, 2018, on the instructions of the Rector of the Institute, the Department of History of Uzbekistan and Social Sciences were merged and renamed the Department of Social Sciences. The head of the department was confirmed PhD Kuldoshev Asliddin Tursunovich. The department consists of 33 professors and teachers. Of these, 5 work part-timers. The scientific potential of the department is 1 PhD, 9 candidates of sciences, associate professors, 10 senior teachers and 13 teachers, 1 head of the department.

Associate Professor, PhD Kuldoshev Asliddin Tursunovich has headed the department since 2018. 
Currently, the department conducts scientific research on the theme "The philosophical foundations of educating young people in the spirits of the national idea."
In 2018, the department’s great achievement was the defense of the dissertation of the senior lecturer Kuldoshev Asliddin on the topic “Globalization and the nature of management of international ecological social and political relations” and getting
In the last 3 years 2 monographs, 5 textbooks and more than 50 scientific and educational works have been published.
During this time, the teachers of the department have increased the status of the taught disciplines, paid special attention to the introduction of humanism and patriotism into the consciousness of young people, the transformation of peace-lovingness into a lifestyle based on the national idea.
The faculty of the department creates texts of lectures, educational and methodical complexes, educational and working programs and a number of teaching aids on the subjects taught in order to achieve our goals in improving the implementation
For several years now, at the department, the scientific and creative clubs “Debate”, “Science and Practice” and “Islamic values” have been helping the youth to raise the level of socio-political thinking, to form their own world view and spiritual image. These clubs hold meetings and scientific debates about the most important events of the society.
The faculty of the Chair directly acquaints young people with the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, government decrees, addresses of President Sh.M. Mirziyoyev and in their daily activities participate in campaigning at the institute level, the region and our entire society.

Based on the “Strategy for the Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017–2021” a roadmap of the department was created, which took into account the rising interest of social disciplines among young people. In this regard, the faculty of the department has set itself the task of introducing the national idea based on virtue, peace-loving and humanism, nurturing and strengthening the culture of philosophical thinking.
